«history» Lawrence and Rosella met at a bar of all places. They fell madly in love. One of the whirlwind romances. They traveled the world, had a beautiful baby boy somewhere in Spain, and finally settled down in a quiet town in the English countryside.
And for a long time, everything was perfect. But then tension started to accumulate. Little things started to get to Lawrence, and he started drinking after losing his job. He started feeling inferior compared to his wife. With magic everything seemed so easy. For three years he fell in a downward spiral, drinking more and arguing with Sara and Liam. Until one day Liam came home to find his mother bloody and beaten and his father standing over her. He panicked and unintentionally performed magic to attack his dad. It effectively set the house on fire and Liam protected his mother from falling, burning timber and sustained burns. His mother's coworker's showed and set everything straight, but the emotional damage had been done. Lawrence was kicked out. Sara recovered but became weary and despondent. And Liam was scarred, both physically emotionally. Resenting that his mother let his father beat her. Hating his father for causing them both so much harm. Afraid of himself and the things he was capable of, and for hurting his father, who he still loved.
That was when he was 13. Things slowly became ok. His mother was still functional. He had lots of friends from school. And last year Liam started seeing his father again from time to time. Lawrence was apparently getting better.
