«history» Marie and Lawrence met at a small community college. their relationship was turbulent, but they were off and on for most of their college years. Marie never finished college though because she got pregnant. Lawrence got his degree and they married for their child. They still fought, but things weren't so bad. They moved to Privet Drive and put on their happy couple act, but when Beth (their daughter) was about 9, they decided on a divorce and he was gone without another word. Beth knew her mother was much happier, but she vowed to find her dad again some day.
After that day, sometimes unexplainable things started to happen, but it was still a surprise when she got her hogwarts letter. Being ever one for evidence she wasn't sure she believed it until her house was flooded with them and she gave in. Beth was an ambitious child, but she also had ethics and given her blood status, the sorting hat saw it fit that she be a ravenclaw over a slytherin. Beth spent her days mostly to herself in the library, getting good grades and test scores were key to later getting into the Ministry. She was a prefect and did a brief stint as a chaser on the quidditch team.
Beth graduated with a few friends, and rushed off to apply to the ministry. However, despite all her efforts at school, she was turned down for the job. Beth re-applies whenever there is an opening, but no such luck. She moved back in with her mother at first, trying to forget the wizard world, but she couldn't and thus bought a little place in hogsmede and a job at Flourish and Blotts.
