«dementor» While she was raised in a pureblood family and always expected that she would one day show signs of magical ability, Nessie was never prepared for her first experience with magic. She'd always had a short temper, and Nessie was generally furious with someone, be it her parents, a friend, or one of her siblings. The day that her magical abilities decided to manifest, Nessie was at a friend's house. They'd started out the day well enough, play dress up and pretending to be as fantastic and popular as their older sisters were. Moments later, though, her friend made a comment that sent Nessie's temper spiraling out of control. Her intention had been to yell at the girl and flounce out of the room, which was a typical behavior of hers. But before she really processed what was going on, the girl was suddenly blasted across the room. It was like someone had physically thrown the girl! Nessie watched in horror as her friend's body slumped in the corner. She'd been thrown into a wall, and even a ten year old wasn't clueless enough to believe that the jolt couldn't have caused damage. Had it not been for the staff at St. Mungos and their superior abilities to heal (magic was so much faster and more effective than Muggle techniques!), the girl might have died. As it was, she spent nearly a month in the hospital, and Nessie has spent seven years reliving and regretting the event.

[li] "STUBBORN" Nessie is very set in her ways. Even hard evidence can rarely convince her to change her mind once she's set on an opinion. This also makes her exceptionally good at accomplishing things; she pretty much never gives up.
[/li][li] "RECKLESS" This seems to be a pretty regular Gryffindor thing. It's not bravery on her part so much as a genuine failure to think about the consequences of things. She's a firm believer in the idea that it's better to regret something and gain experience from it than to wonder what it would've been like to do it.
[/li][li] "BLUNT" She's not big on lying, particularly because she's not good at it. So she tells things like they are most of the time without beating around the bush. This is also partially due to the fact that she doesn't consider the impact of things she's going to say before she says them.
[/li][li] "FLIRTATIOUS" That doesn't really need a description, does it? She likes to flirt with people. It amuses her. And the idea that she has enough sex appeal to make some people squirm amuses her even more.
[/li][li] "ATTENTION-SEEKING" The need for attention is Nessie's primary motivation for everything. Somewhere along the line, she didn't get enough attention from her parents and she's making up for it by demanding attention in every possible way now.

«history» Being the middle child certainly has its disadvantages. Practically from the moment her younger brother was born, Nessie began doing anything she could to get attention, starting fights and making a scene whenever she had the chance. This pattern of behavior carried on throughout her childhood, and she quickly became known among the pureblood circle for her short temper, frequent tantrums, and rebellious behavior. Even when her behavior resulted in her inadvertently causing severe injury to one of her best friends, she didn't change her ways.
Arriving at Hogwarts didn't really change things for her. Her sister had been popular the entire time she was at the school, and Nessie was constantly living in her shadow. To compensate for that, she tried to differentiate herself from her sister as much as possible. The first thing she did was join the quidditch team. Ashlynn was prissier than Nessie, so she didn't really view the sport as a welcome activity. Nessie joined the quidditch team as soon as she was able, and happened to have the good luck to meet her best friend, Brett. Since then, she's been doing everything she can to make herself known for all the reasons Ashlynn wouldn't have wanted to be known. Generally, that means she spends most of her evenings in detention and someone is constantly angry with her.
