James laughed at the dare, glancing at the first years in question. It was a group of girls, gathered around a piece of parchment and giggling at a pitch that should have been inaudible to the human ear. This would be fun. "'Kay," he said simple, and with that, grabbed a pillow off the couch next to him, stuffed it underneath his shirt and waddled over to the girls, brushing his hair back as he went.
"Oh, Merlin, it's been such a long day," he whimpered as he walked, and once he got close enough to the girls, sat down right beside them. It was a good thing James had no sense of shame, because they looked at him incredulously, almost scared at the sight of him — suddenly fat and sitting right next to them. He flattered himself by thinking it was because he was older and too popular, so he grinned an easy grin at them, placing his hands on either side of his pillow-stomach. Once they followed his movements and stared at the protrusion, James continued, lowering his voice considerably, though making sure it would be loud enough for his mates to hear.
"I always told Liam that we should use protection, but he never listened," he explained, talking dramatically, as though it were the newest piece of gossip. He spoke so convincingly, the naive group of girls leaned in closer to hear. "He didn't hear about that one lad who had a bit too much fun with his mate and wound up pregnant — though how he couldn't, when it was all over the Daily Prophet..."
It wasn't, of course, because such a thing never existed, but he was counting on them being too young to know better. What eleven-year-old reads the paper, after all? And just as suspected, the girls nodded earnestly, despite having probably seen him in the corridors within the last few days, stomach flat.
Though wait. Did that make him the bottom? He glanced over at Liam, shaking his head slowly as though to negate his thought. James would be the top, most definitely. Though when the girls followed his gaze, James blew his mate a kiss. Rumors: it was the price to pay for being best friends with James Potter.
He turned back to the girls, suddenly switching to a surprised expression. "Oh, I think it just kicked! Come listen!" He didn't wait for a response — he grabbed one of the girls by the hand and brought her onto his lap, where she had no choice but to press her ear against his stomach. And as soon as skin made contact with pillow, he began to laugh, then pulled her to a standing position as he stood up himself. The pillow fell from his shirt, and he kissed the first year on the forehead in between chuckles. "Thanks love. You're a huge help." And without further explanation, he returned to the group of three.
He sat down, not phased in the slightest by what had happened, and turned to Nessie. "Ness, truth or dare?"

Liam had to watch this unfold, and thus turned on the couch to get a good view. One would imagine that after all of James's shenanigans, Liam would have seen it all. But most people didn't realize that practically every day with James was like a surprise. There was no end to his absurdity.
Liam was partially mortified when James brought him up, though. Without realizing, he started to slowly shake his head, as though to convey that this couldn't possibly be happening. Claiming to be lovers in front of Brett was one thing - informing the school that he fathered a child was another.
James turned towards him and blew a kiss, and Liam, his expression still one of disbelief, sunk into the couch to hide himself from view. He buried his face in his hands. People might honestly start believing he was gay now. "I'm never getting laid." he whined, into his hands, so it was probably more than muffled.

Once she realized Brett was going to be nice enough not to assault her with the first turn, Nessie let herself get comfortable. She wrapped Liam's cloak more tightly around her, glad for the fact that she was small enough to be practically enveloped by most guys' clothes, and leaned her head against the back of the couch. She heard the dare Brett offered, and giggled at it a little, but didn't pay a great deal of attention as James stuffed a pillow under his shirt and made his way to the other side of the room. She was too busy focusing on the fact that Liam's cloak boasted the same scent she'd already enjoyed while curled up against his chest.
Nessie quickly became oblivious to the people around her, which was probably a horrible idea, but thinking about it wasn't really on her to-do list. It took her a full ten seconds to realize that James had spoken to her. A blush quickly colored her cheeks, and she took a long gulp from the bottle of firewhiskey she was currently hogging. Ordinarily, she was a dare person, but she wasn't entirely sure that was a safe choice at the moment. Of course, truth wasn't a much safer choice. Nessie frowned. She wasn't nearly drunk enough for this game. She took another long pull from the bottle as she mulled over her options. "Tuh….ruth," she answered slowly. The word felt strange coming out of her mouth, and she wanted to retract it and ask for a dare, but it was too late at this point. Besides, James didn't know her half as well as Brett did. He probably wouldn't think of anything too horrible to ask her.

Truth? James arched an eyebrow, unsure of where to go from here. This was Vanessa Sorin, the girl who was known to be up for anything. And he fully intended on using the dare to see Brett and Nessie make out. Now he was going to have to go an entirely different route, and he didn't hide his disappointment, though kept the dare idea in the back of his head for the next round.
He couldn't say he knew much about Nessie, having never had much of a conversation with her. They were all in the same year and the same House, so they ran into each other on occasion, but rarely was it more than a greeting. On the off-chance they entered a conversation, it was short and shallow, filled with quick quips and complaints about classes. [ooc: ALLITERATION! ]
However, he did know that she had a reputation for sleeping around — knowledge like this was shared between the entire male population at Hogwarts, in the interest of brotherhood and helping each other get laid. So he leaned back on his chair, throwing his arm across the back of it, and propped his feet up on the table.
"Best shag and why," he said. At the very least, they'd get some good details out of it.

Brett watched her dare unfold. It was rather humorous actually, he played the part well and she only wished he could be pregnant because he would get so much enjoyment out of that charade. She started to laugh loudly when he blew a kiss at Liam, who muttered something to himself. Brett patted his leg lightly, trying to hold back giggles. "I'm sorry about that man, didn't mean for you to get dragged into this." She said, but it was rather hilarious, the whole thing.
Then James called on Nessie and Brett sat back in her chair, wondering what dare he could come up with, Nes always picked dare... until now it seemed. the word truth spilled out of her awkwardly. Truth? That was opening a huge can of worms, but James was rather dumb-- in the best way-- and he didn't know much about Nessie, so probably not too much damage could have been done.
At the question though, Brett smiled. That was a good one, and one she didn't think she knew the answer too anyway.

Even with the knowledge that James wouldn't know anything particularly traumatizing to ask her, Nessie found herself holding her breath in wait of his question. After all, not knowing her very well also meant that he wouldn't know what subjects to stay away from. Based on the fact that she was known to always choose dare, she expected it to take him a while to come up with a question, so, rather than passing out from holding her breath too long, she turned her attention back to the firewhiskey, continuing to take gulps from the bottle. It wasn't fair, perhaps, since she was completely hogging a bottle, but she figured she had the best tolerance and possibly the most need for the stuff, and no one seemed to be arguing with her so far.
Despite her high alcohol tolerance, though, Nessie was a very small person. By the time James formed his question, she was starting to feel a bit cozier and considerably friendlier than she had before. She pondered his question for a moment, pulling a very classic female thinking move by drawing her lower lip into her mouth and biting it. She had quite a list of conquests, and she could most definitely offer a decent answer to his question, with more details than he might care to know. But a few of the guys she'd been with probably didn't want to have those details shared, either. For instance, Paulo might not particularly appreciate her sharing their rendezvous with her friends. So, the way she saw it, she could either offer up a plausible half-truth or she could risk embarrassing someone.
She'd settled on the half-truth in an effort to keep some of her better playthings from becoming offended and opened her mouth to explain it to him when her slightly tipsy brain decided to control things for her. "James Potter," she accused, her tone both joking and slightly incredulous, "That is hardly a fair question. See, there's a pretty good chance you just interrupted what was going to be my best shag." She offered Liam a smirk, hoping the idea that she had been looking forward to messing around with him would make up for her awkward behavior since then, before returning her attention to James. "But if I have to pick one, I'd have to say Brett." Technically, it wasn't a complete truth, as she'd never simply shagged her best friend, but they'd participated in a couple of threesomes, and Brett was certainly good for that. Besides, talking about sleeping with a hot girl could only have good consequences, right? "Because, really, she's my best friend. She cares what's good for me. And guys kind of suck at that." she shrugged at him and let out a short laugh before looking around the room again.
It wasn't fair to toss the truth or dare options back at James since he'd just completed a dare, so she was left with two options. Brett would have been the safest, of course, but it seemed somehow unfair to offer her the question since she'd started the game. So, in the interest of fairness, and with the help of the buzz she was currently feeling, she turned toward Liam. "Your turn," she told him. "Truth or dare?"

For a second, when Nessie said "James Potter", Liam had thought that was who she was naming as her best shag. And then he felt confused and possibly hurt. If it were true, that could explain the awkwardness that occurred after James showed up. However, James never told him of this development, so Liam was possibly hurt that he didn't know this vital information about his best friend's life. But then Nessie continued speaking and not only was Liam mollified that his fears weren't true, but he was also surprised.
He raised his eyebrows and turned to look at Nessie. At least he knew he hadn't been dreaming to think he and Nessie just had a chance. However, Liam was a bit uncomfortable having the spotlight thrust on him. Nevertheless, the things she was saying were only flattering, and Liam gave her a coy grin before looking away. He caught James's eye and shrugged, as if to say, "I can't help being awesome."
And then the spotlight was taken off him and onto Brett. Then Liam did exactly what James did in these situations - he began imagining explicit things as his eyes glazed over. Unlike James, though, Liam had enough sense not to drool. He snapped out of it fairly quickly, though. When Nessie said guys suck and don't care for her, Liam looked over concerned. "Not all of us." he couldn't help saying because he was actually offended. Liam cared about the people close to him, his friends and family, and he hated being thrown into the guy stereotype.
"Truth." he answered curtly, still miffed about her comment about guys. He was in no mood to get up and do something ridiculous.

Brett chuckled when Nessie told James he might have interrupted her best lay. It was good to see she was getting back to being normal, though she would ask her about it later of course. And it was good for Liam. Then she laughed even harder when Nessie said she had been her best lay. "I love you too boo," Brett said as she copied James and blew Nessie a kiss. And for good measure, she put both hands up to get high fives from Nessie and James.
Liam was kind of a downer and she figured would not find this exciting, not to mention he sort of grumbled after her line about caring and what not. Brett and Nessie never really had sex with each other alone, they'd had some threesomes, which was different. but it counted. Brett was a little flattered actually. "Am I your best shag James?" She teased lightly, though maybe she really shouldn't have asked-- Brett wasn't sure she wanted to know if not.
Then Liam said truth and Brett turned to look at Nessie, wondering what she would say.

James had been expecting the name of some random boy at Hogwarts. Probably a Gryffindor, as he (in quite a biased manner) assumed that no one could compete with a fiery lion in bed. The passion and the large reliance on intuition rather than too much thought just seemed to make for a good lover. And the group would laugh if it happened to be someone unexpected, or nod knowingly if it were obvious. Like that bloke in his Potions class. He had a rather nice arse, James decided, then quickly shook his head to prevent his thoughts from going further.
And he managed to tune back into the conversation just as Nessie said Brett, and once again he was lost. His original dare was having Brett kiss Nessie. But they'd had sex already. Their bodies pressed together, lips meshed with one another, hands running along each other's soft skin... A stupid grin was plastered onto his face as he pictured it, mind racing — one of the few times this ever happened.
Brett's hand distracted him, visible out of the corner of his eye, and he looked over at it, confused. It took a few moments to return to reality completely, and another few to realize that she was expecting a high five. Not one to disappoint, he leaned forward on the chair and slapped his hand against hers. "I'll need those details later," he told Brett, nodding seriously.
And then she asked after his thoughts, and he shrugged, still grinning. "'Course, love," he explained, as he leaned back once more, body immediately slumping over.

It seemed that her response was doing exactly what she'd intended. Liam seemed appeased by her suggestion that she would have enjoyed sleeping with him, and both boys seemed at least momentarily distracted by the idea of her sleeping with Brett. Nessie giggled and batted her eyelashes, blowing a kiss back to her friend, but she couldn't help but hear Liam's obviously frustrated response to her comments. Apparently he wasn't distracted enough by the thought of a lesbian love affair to overlook the fact that she'd indirectly insulted him. Not him, really. Or, at least, she hadn't meant it that way. It was just that the guys she had experience with weren't the sort to care. Shaking her head to end the train of thought, Nessie took another gulp from her bottle firewhiskey before moving to give Brett a high five.
As she settled back into her seat, she found herself wondering if she ought to apologize for suggesting that all guys were insensitive assholes. But apologizing wasn't her style, so she settled for another gulp of liquor. By the time she decided to have Liam choose between truth and dare, she was feeling more than a little tipsy. Actually, she was bordering on drunk, and it was quite refreshing. There was so much less thinking! That was, of course, until he answered, his tone implying that he was still upset. Nessie frowned and forced herself not to comment. She was torn between asking if he could prove any guy was different and accusing him of being childish. In the end, though, she just furrowed her brow and began to consider the questions she could ask him. She was as bad at coming up with questions as she was at answering them most of the time.
Lucky for her, James had already turned their conversation toward sex, so it didn't take a great deal of effort to arrive at the conclusion that she should ask him a sexual question. But there were so many of those! After a bit more drinking and an excess of consideration, she finally turned toward him. "Who took your virginity? And how was it?" she asked, waggling her eyebrows at him. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she was pretty sure she didn't want or need to know this information, but it made for a fun game, right? Liam was a little annoyed, but he smiled lightly at all the high fives and kisses going around. It was a fun atmosphere, and it wasn't necessarily Nessie's fault that she hit a nerve. It was just that Liam was a direct victim of the selfishness of one man in particular, and it was the worst offense possible to be likened to him. Uncaring and in complete disregard for others.
ooc- gosh, my characters are so tortured
Liam was growing slightly amused at the increasingly tipsiness of his friends. Amused in a particular way though. He was pretty sure none of them had a drinking problem, but he always watched drunk people at a sort of distance. A mild, slightly entertained curiosity. Always wondering what could possibily be the attractiveness of something so potentially dangerous.
When Nessie finally asked her question, Liam almost regretted picking truth. "That's two questions." he pointed out. Picking dare still didn't seem like the better choice, but this question was personal. Not just to him - it was involving another person. He considered arguing his way out of it, but he was thinking Nessie would only keep pressing. James already knew, but he wasn't sure if Brett and Nessie knew. How much did girls talk about amongst themselves?
He decided on answering and getting it over with. First, he looked around the common room to make sure a particular girl wasn't there. Then he turned back to the group and answered quickly. "Eliza Rae." Ex-girlfriend. Gryffindor. Sixth year. Also known as Elizabeth, just as Liam was technically William, but of course she and Liam were on a nickname basis. She was a brunette, of course, and petite, with big, lovely eyes and a tinkling, pleasant laugh like a windchime. They dated for a whole 13 months before taking a break that then became a permanent break-up. Like all relationships that ended amiably and resulted in continued friendship, Liam and Eliza were still rather fond of each other.
Liam smiled to himself. "It was great." He almost said it was sweet. They had both been virgins, and it was a little awkward at first, but it ended up being rather fantastic. Just the sight of Eliza, naked under the sheets, smiling up at him, being all adorable, made Liam just want to wrap his arms around her and protect her from everything. The whole thing was really sweet. James had to deal with Liam's lovestruck mood for months - the goofy grins, the staring off into the distance, the adoring expression and cuddling in the common room.
Liam snapped out of his pleasant reverie. Those were nice times, and it'd be easy to get lost in them and bring up past emotions, but life was different now. "My turn?" he asked looking around.

Brett chuckled and patted James on the leg. "Oh, don't worry, I'll fill you in." She winked playfully and bit her lip. This friendly fling with James was altogether too much, and would continue to be as long as no one got too attached. Then he agreed she was his best shag, and while it may have been a lie to please her, she took it, and grinned at him before kissing him lightly.
She took a swig of the second bottle, since Nessie was holding one all to herself and already tipsy. The question nearly made her spit out her fire whiskey but that would have been such a waste. Leave it to Nessie to make things interesting...
Eliza Rae. Brett knew her, adorable and goofy, rather cute. Brett nodded approvingly. They would have been cute together, she'd decided. Brett had lost her virginity to a Gryffindor boy, Taylor Watson, he'd been a seventh year and she'd been a fourth year. He was strong, studly, her quidditch captain. Basically the man. The sex had been incredible.
"Yup, you're turn Liam.I think I'm the only one who hasn't been asked anything yet," Brett said, putting a finger to her puckered lips in thought. Truth or dare?
"Dare."
