This whole anti-muggle movement was getting out of hand, and Nessie was annoyed. So annoyed, in fact, that she didn't even bother changing out of her uniform before grabbing her broom and heading for the quidditch pitch. She ran out of the castle, mounted her broom, and kicked off the ground the moment she made it to the pitch. She flew furiously, the scenery around her little more than a blur. The speed made her feel just a little better. Better enough that she could at least process what she'd heard in the great hall.
Apparently, a group of teenage witches and wizards had gotten together with the intention of showing muggles who was boss. They'd attacked a shopping center, which Nessie thought was a ridiculous idea to begin with, but it was apparently crowded enough to draw their attention. In the end, it was rumored that some stupid teenager had thrown around a careless cruciatus curse, which was bound to drive the poor muggle mad before anyone could do anything about it. It was a huge ordeal, and Nessie was sure the muggle news companies had probably gotten to the scene before any officials from the ministry could show up to adjust memories. It was stupid. It was reckless. It was unnecessary. And it was making wizards look horrible.
For her part, Nessie wasn't against exposing magic to the muggle world. She saw no reason why the two races couldn't live peacefully alongside one another. Maybe it was wishful thinking, but if wizards would just get over the idea that they were somehow superior, it would have been possible.
Rehashing the details had only served to make Nessie angry again, and she let out an annoyed huff. She really wanted to hit something, and she would've given just about anything for a bat and a couple of bludgers. But she'd been too distracted to grab any before she headed out. With nothing more constructive to do, she closed her eyes and let out an angry shriek, not bothering to think about who might hear and what they might think about it.

Noah was out for a fly to clear his head. He wasn't totally sure he and June were really going to make it. Sure the James thing wasn't really a huge deal, it shouldn't have been, but she was too different from him on some level and after the incident in London, he found himself struggling to keep his thoughts to himself. June was a muggle born, lived in the muggle world; as such, how on earth could defend himself to her.
Flying made everything better. If anyone saw him, they'd think he was just training, the ever vigilant captain. He was flying around the pitch for a while before darting off through the forest, technically illegal but really he didn't just wanna fly in circles around the castle. He heard a shriek and turned sharply at the sound. It was very human and he couldn't help but investigate.
As it turned out, no one was in trouble, Nessie Sorin, a gryffindor beater who was usually paired with an equally fiesty redhead. "Oi, you alright?" He called out. He was a decent guy after all.

The last thing she'd really expected was for someone else to show up. Granted, it wasn't a private area. Anyone was free to fly around here. But Nessie had a tendency to think that people would leave her alone when she wanted to be alone. As the case was, though, there was at least one other student near enough to hear her shrieking. Nessie's cheeks reddened and she turned an apologetic smile in the direction the voice had come from. Once her gaze caught up with her, she realized that it was Noah Macnair. Her blush deepend, but her smile pulled into a genuine one. Noah was excessively attractive. "Nothing to see here," she told him, shaking her head as if she could make herself think rationally.
Most people knew that when she gave an answer like that, she wasn't too keen on company. But Noah didn't make any move to fly away, so Nessie found herself considering offering him a real answer. She eased her broom closer to his and blinked at him for a moment. She couldn't very well start off with the truth, so she arched an eyebrow at him. "I need to knock the hell out of a bludger. Care to practice with me?" It was enough to imply that she was miffed about something, but not enough to completely give her away. Besides, it would give her an excuse to stare at him a little longer.

Noah smirked softly as he raised his eyebrows at her response. Girls were so strange... Obviously something was up, judging by the sound she'd just made. It was entirely possible it was none of his business, but he still had to check and see that she was okay, so he hovered behind, waiting for something to jump up and grab her.
Nessie then flew over and admitted to needing to get out some frustration. "Count me in." He agreed. She could chuck bludgers at him, no big deal. Of course, he was a keeper and really didn't deal with distance or the "death balls" as he called them. "Just try not to kill me, I am a keeper after all." He chuckled lightly, his smile showing his pearly whites.
With that, he lead the way back to the pitch. As a a captain he always had access to the quidditch supplies. He touched down lightly and left his broom in the grass and as he went to get the giant (and rather heavy) chest with the game balls in it. He dragged it out onto the field, and heaved it open, a slight sheen of sweat on his arms.

Pretty much anyone who'd ever played quidditched recognized it as a fantastic way to relieve stress. It wasn't Nessie's favorite way. It required too much clothing. But it was definitely a close second. She was instantly glad for the fact that Noah was a captain, regardless of the fact that he was also a Slytherin. She was really supposed to hate him just for that, wasn't she? But how could anyone hate someone who made jeans and tee shirts look so damn good? Nessie chuckled when he mentioned trying not to kill him. "Paranoid about our house rivalry?" she teased, offering him a smirk. "If I killed you, I'm pretty sure half the female population at this school would come after me," she reasoned. "Besides, you wouldn't be half as fun to stare at if you were dead." The words were out of her mouth before she could stop them, and she resisted the urge to clap her her hand over her mouth or to offer an apology. Recognizing that she'd been out of place would have only drawn attention to it. Besides, given her reputation, no one could really be surprised to hear something like that come out of her mouth.
Fortunately, he landed and went to retrieve the box of equipment they would need. Nessie took a moment to get herself together before lowering herself to the grass beside him. She reached for a bat and tossed it into the air a couple of times, wondering if she ought to tell him what had been bugging her. In the end, though, she was still feeling a little too uncomfortable about it. Instead, she mounted her broom and kicked off again. "You coming or what?" she asked, glad for the distraction.

Noah let out an uncomfortable laugh. He of course, adored the compliment-- many girls did in fact agree with her on the topic of looking at him. He wanted to flirt back and felt instantly bad. He had a girlfriend, a prefect, his best childhood friend. Granted, things weren't perfect anymore, the honeymoon was over. But he was still dating her, his Juniper... Wait, wasn't Nessie seeing someone too? He heard some rumors but he wasn't sure how much was true. He just offered her a smile and a little "Yeah its true" shrug and went off to get supplies.
She asked if he was coming and he shook his head. "Working on it." He said as he finally set the trunk down and wrestled out a bludger, some grass clippings sticking to his skin. Then he threw it up as far as he could so she could hit it and sprinted back to his broom.
This would be fun.
They swooped around the pitch, Noah was laughing a bit and trying very hard to keep from hurting himself. She was really in the zone it seemed whatever was bothering her had struck a nerve. "You wanna talk about it?" He asked, calling across the space between them.

Impatient as she was, it seemed like it took Noah an hour to join her. Nessie didn't bother complaining, though. At least he was willing to stick around and entertain her a bit. She whacked the bludger in his general direction a couple of times, letting herself get a feel for his reactions. Once she'd figured out his typical pattern of movement, she sent the ball sailing toward him faster and faster, very obviously directing her rage into the bludger. Luckily, Noah was agile enough that she didn't hurt him. Nessie wasn't paying enough attention to make sure she wasn't sending a death blow his way. She was so focused on what she was doing that she almost missed the fact that he was asking her a question.
She didn't answer him right away. She just batted the bludger hard in the opposite direction. She let out a tired huff, glad she'd gotten to beat out a bit of her aggression. "That depends. Do you hate muggles?" she asked him, her words punctuated by huffs as she tried to get her breath back. Nessie watched him carefully in wait of his answer. If he did hate muggles, she wouldn't feel too bad if she did manage to hurt him.

Needless to say, what she said was not what he had been expected and he laughed with a shake of his head, eyebrows furrowed as if the thought was horribly distasteful. "I'm a half blood, most of my family is muggles." He said, though he realized that didn't answer her question. Not everyone liked their roots. "I like muggles." he added for clarification.
He was glad for the break from the bludger flying at him and pulled up the front of his shirt to wipe his forehead, subconsciously giving Nessie quite a purposeful view. Of course, he wasn't really thinking about how it could look, he was mostly trying to keep sweat out of his eyes. On another, he liked to be wanted.
"Why do you ask?" Noah finally got to, hoping she liked muggles as well, but he was fairly sure she did. He couldn't quite name why he thought that...Rumors probably. She generated many.

She really couldn't explain why, but Nessie was relieved to hear that Noah was a halfblood. It didn't have to mean he liked muggles, but it made the possibility seem a whole lot more likely. Sighing, Nessie let herself relax just a little. He wouldn't laugh at her, and he wouldn't have anything horrible to say, which meant she could actually talk about things. Nessie opened her mouth to explain why she'd brought the subject up to begin with when Noah lifted his shirt to wipe the sweat from his face. Her eyes locked on his abs and she instantly forgot whatever she'd been planning to say.
Nessie couldn't be entirely sure, but she thought she was probably still staring slackjawed when Noah asked why she'd asked his opinion about muggles. She blinked a couple of times to clear her mind before remember what she'd been talking about. Her brow furrowed and she frowned. "It's just this stupid anti-muggle thing. Did you hear they attacked a shopping center?!" Nessie wrapped her fingers tightly around the bat she was still holding. Maybe talking about this was a bad idea. It only seemed to be making her angrier.

Noah watched her face and waited with a bemused smile for her to take her eyes off him long enough to answer. He found some dark corner of his mind wishing he weren't such a good boyfriend. Nessie had a reputation and honestly, he would tap that. He shook his head and stuck Juniper in the forefront of his mind. She was important to him.
He had actually heard about the mall but he frowned. "I heard about that... bloody idiots." He agreed with a nod. "I'm all for cooperation, but this takeover thing is badly planned on top of being just totally stupid." Noah said. He wasn't quiet about his views if they came up, and most people respected his courage in that sense.
"Did they confirm how many people got cursed? There are some crazy rumors flying around." He asked, ducking as the bludger finally sailed back to them.

Relief once again settled in as Nessie processed the fact that Noah not only liked muggles, but agreed with her on the idea that muggles and humans could coexist. Despite her annoyance, a small smile snaked across her face. "I thought I was the only person who thought muggles and humans could cooperate," she said softly, not really caring whether or not he heard. It was just nice to voice the idea out loud. Shaking her head, though, she once again returned to the serious nature of the subject. "C'mon. The whole movement is apparently headed up by teenagers. How organized and intelligent can you expect them to be?" she offered, completely ignoring the fact that she and Noah were both teenagers, as well. They were in a completely different subset. One that actually thought things through on occasion. One that wouldn't attack muggles for no reason.
Letting out a sigh, Nessie shook her head in response to Noah's question. "I heard the Daily Prophet did an article on it, so I checked it out, but it's basically the same thing everyone's talking about. Unforgivable curses and muggles going mad. It's completely ridiculous. Someone should use those stupid curses on them," she told him, pouting. It was a good time to be angry, though, because the bludger she'd sent flying the other direction had returned. Noah ducked to avoid being hit, and Nessie promptly smashed it with her bat, sending it toward the forest. "Maybe someone needs to start a counter-movement. To show them how bloody stupid they're all being." She wasn't really suggesting that they do it, but it sounded like a plausible enough idea. Wasn't that how things generally worked? One group of people became stupid and violent, and another group responded with similar violence and stupidity until one side or the other realized they needed to stop. Maybe that was all these morons needed.
Chewing her lower lip, Nessie let herself actually consider the possibility of doing something about this movement. In the end, though, all she could come up with was the fact that if they were going to have any idea what was really going on, they were going to have to venture into the muggle world themselves. The Daily Prophet was bound to spin things in a wizard-friendly way, and she highly doubted they were likely to give details on the real state of things. Frowning, she debated whether she ought to suggest the idea or not. She was already blurring lines by flirting with Noah when they were both involved with other people. But this wasn't a dating thing. It really was only in the interest of getting information. Finally, she decided she might as well at least let him think about it. "I think we should check things out. You know, in the muggle areas? There's no way the Daily Prophet can really be telling us everything…"

He was relieved she thought the same, and he couldn't help but wonder what that said about him and her. June would flip probably and certainly didn't think the same. He shook his head, there was no need to compare them, they were totally different people. Instead he decided to focus on her words. She was right, it was teenager based. "True, but I heard some adults are fueling this, thats the rumor anyway. Like the ministry even." Noah shrugged, a little afraid to give those rumors much powers. That would mean bad things for everyone, wizard and muggle alike. They didn't need another war.
He nodded slowly. "That could be good." But what would such a movement do? How could muggles learn about wizards and not have a war-- too many power hungry wizards out there, who could easily take it with magic. It was a thought worth entertaining though. Nessie's next thought was more plausible and actually exciting. It would involve some rule breaking though...
"I'm in." Noah decided with a nod. Checking out parts of Muggle London would be a good move, recon of sorts.
