Nik wandered around the corridors. He was supposedly on duty on the 6th floor, one of the few duty's he had on his own, and he didn't like it, without another prefect with him it was dragging on and with no trouble makers in the corridor, he'd had a rather boring night. He wished that muggle items worked in hogwarts. If they had he would have been listening to his playlist. Currently he was humming 'We are young' by Fun. Thinking about the lyrics, he mussed that it was quite a dark song. Tapping his foot, he checked his watch, he still had a while left till he could go back to the dorm.
He had been given the watch as a gift, and was glad it still worked in hogwarts - he assumed it was because it wasn't an electrical object. He started to mumble lyrics under his breath. 'We are Young' was currently one of his favourite songs, and at home he had it on repeat. Being away at hogwarts meant that he was usually a little behind on muggle music, but he tried to keep himself updated. Nik wasn't watching where he was walking, and managed to walk himself into someone. "I am so sorry" he exclaimed, he often made a mental note to be more observant, but he usually forgot about it after a day or so. (outfit)

November knew technically, students were supposed to be getting to their common rooms, but she never really listened to silly rules like that. In her mind, she was better than everyone else, and as such, she didn't see why she had to be cooped up with those stupid, loud adolescents when she could have some piece and quiet in the hall. Hopefully James Potter wouldn't come by and crash it like the other day.
November liked lurking, she could lean against the wall, her face blank and creep passers by for hours. It was easy to sit and watch the world with a bored expression. That is, unless someone bumped rudely into you. Which is what happened, she took a few undignified stumbles forward as a kindly male voice rang out.
She turned and looked at him. A Hufflepuff, how pathetic. maybe a muggle born too. "Is it really too much to ask for you to walk and look where you're going at the same time?" She said flatly. November didn't use emotions, ever, she was sullen and flat. Everything she ever said sounded bored, and in a strange way, got people wishing for some sign of her approval.

Nik blanched - as much as he could, he was so pale that he couldn't really get paler. Nik knew of November, and that she wasn't exactly a nice person to be around. He apoligized again, to be nice, but was a little annoyed. He'd apoligized already hadn't he? So he forced a cheery grin and said "A little too much. Can't concentrate on more than one thing at a time." he joked, trying to be nice. He tried to be nice to everyone. Realisation dawned on him. "Hang on. Your supposed to be getting to the dorms now." he spoke in an accusing tone. As a prefect he was supposed to be herding her towards her common room. Pulling his hand through his blonde hair, if she wasn't going back to her room, he'd atleast try and start a conversation with her. Though he was sure it would fail. "What lessons did you have today?" he asked lamely. That was a seriously idiotic question, but hey it was a question.

November raised her eyebrows and stuck on an incredulous expression. This guy was an idiot. Did he think his confusion would endearing to her? It was pathetic, and nothing was endearing to November. Not babies, not sunshine and definitely not laughter. She couldn't believe they let him of all people be a prefect. Obviously he was incompetent and stupid beyond belief. Probably had a mental disorder, what 17 year old couldn't watch where they were going? It was insulting to insinuate he was above her in any sort of field, so she folded her arms across her chest and refused to move. Why on earth should she? He was a failure at his job.
He then asked her what classes she had and November just cocked an eyebrow at him. He was already squirming uncomfortably and she had barely said anything to him. She could almost laugh. But her face stayed flat as she asked, "Are you for real?"

Nik groaned mentally. This was not the kind of person he cared to spend time with. He'd rather talk with the annoying slytherin prefect that stay here. But if he left, it would be conceeding to her, and reflecting to the teachers that he wasnt a suitable prefect. Something he tried to be - he may be a little immature at times, but no one was perfect and he refused to change. So what if he were an idiot, the teachers must have seen something ... worthy in him to choose him as the hufflepuff male 7th year prefect, or the most sensible choice.
When she crossed her arms, it was obvious to him he wasnt going to move. Which was then the annoying muggle song - The Man who cant be moved popped into his head. Though it was lyrically a different sex. The title reminded him of her. 'Are you for real?' she'd asked. He pondered over the question for a moment, before replying "Why yes. Or I'm unknowingly non existant, which would mean your talking to yourself. So i guess i am 'for real'" he did think afterwards that he probably would be non existant soon. That was if she even got angry. He'd never once seen her get 'emotional' at all. Not that he could recall.

Then he stood there like an idiot and November, unfazed and unsurprised blinked and looked at a painting to her left, still bored and unaffected. It was one of her greatest skills, acting like she didn't care. It wasn't too hard though, as she really didn't care about most things. And the few things she did care about, she didn't show it because now it was expected for her to be an unbendable grump. And she'd rather be feared than ignored out of apathy.
Then he opened his mouth and was babbling about how he must be real or she was making him up. November almost told him that her mind would never invent anyone so utterly lame and detestable. But she didn't do that, she pursed her lips tighter into a line. "Are you done being an idiot?" She said to him flatly.
Really she was beginning to think he had serious problems.

Nik was beginning to get a litle frustrated, and a little offended. Okay sometimes he acted like an idiot, but in the classes he liked he was actually quite smart. But he smiles through it. "Nope." he replied bluntly. He was beginning to see the slytherin prefect as a very nice alternative. "Would you please go back the your dorm now?" he asked her, he wanted to get back to patrolling, and that had been boring him. Nik didnt like to talk with people who made fun of him, he didnt mind playful banter and all, but when they made fun in a serious way he took offense, because some comments he'd heard could be quite harmful. "Please go back before I take points away from Ravenclaw" he ordered. Nik was also beginning to fluster, as he'd never spoken with someone who was so emotionless and harsh - usually people just laughed his weirdness off as something unique to him then went about their business. If he was honest the muggle kids in the village he lived in were better at insulting and offending him than the kids at hogwarts.
(prefects can take points right?)

Then he started to threaten--badly--about taking points from Ravenclaw. She didn't really care about Ravenclaw either, but she refused to lose points from this clown. So after looking at him for a long, hard minute, November stopped leaning against the wall. She kept her arms folded as she turned to walk to her tower. He wasn't worth her time anyway. She was really the winner here and she knew it, and that was all that mattered. She didn't need recognition. She knew she was better than him.
November glanced back at him, lanky with blonde hair and shook her head lightly. She highly doubted he had much potential, except maybe he could get people to follow the rules by annoying them like he did her.
