A small smile settled onto Charlie's face when Beth amended the situation by agreeing with him and offering to babysit. He supposed he could let her do that sometime. He rarely had much reason to need a babysitter, but he had a feeling Arabella was going to be encouraging him to need one as often as possible. "Okay. You can babysit me," Arabella agreed. Charlie didn't bother to contradict her, as he was certain that would be the case at some point in the near future. He'd never been very good at telling Bella no.
Bella eagerly attacked her lunch, her manners not quite as good as Beth's, and Charlie tried not to laugh at the scene. Instead, he devoted his attention to his food and allowed the meal to pass with only minor conversation, which was largely directed by his daughter. Once finished, he offered Beth a smile. "Well, Bethany, thank you for joining us," he told her. "I'm sure we'll be in touch." It sounded so businesslike, but he was having a hard time figuring out how to address her since their awkward discussion of dating.
